In 1933, Bucyrus entered the drilling rig market; in 1952, Bucyrus produced the first commercially approved electric roller cone drilling rig; in 1945, the Russian Heavy Machinery Combined Company (Ural Machinery) began to manufacture heavy-duty roller drilling rigs; Since then, the Gardener-Denver Company (G-D Company for short) and the Marion Shovel Branch of Dresser Industries in the United States have also developed roller cone drilling rigs. In the early 1990s, P-H Company also developed a roller cone drilling rig; my country began to develop roller cone drilling rigs in the 1960s, and it was successfully developed and put into the market in the 1980s.
Generally, drilling rigs with drilling diameters in the range of 280 to 380 mm are called large drilling rigs. Roller cone drilling rigs are mainly used for blasthole drilling operations of more than 200 mm in open pit mines.
